Agriturismo Rome

In my opinion, Rome is the most beautiful, the most inspiring city in the world. Do you want to explore Rome and stay in the quiet countryside of Lazio? So choose an agriturismo near Rome. I – Margot – have personally selected all of the properties for quality, charm and hospitality.  Have the best of both worlds: revel in the refreshing quiet of the countryside, with Rome nearby. And you don’t need to use a car to get there, because the train will take you to the centre of Rome in a jiffy.

Rome, an open-air museum

Rome is an impressive open-air museum with a visible history dating back over 3000 years. The proverb “all roads lead to Rome” is also true in the sense that you must have seen it, at least once. Famous sights are of course the Colosseum, the Trevi fountain, the Roman Forum, the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon and the Vittorio Emanuele monument; and, to crown it all, the great cathedral of Saint Peter’s. It is easy to picture what these places looked like in the distant past. The historic buildings of the city can best be admired on foot, just take time out in an inviting cafe now and then in one of the many lovely squares.

City of the good life

Rome is a city for Epicureans. Enjoy delicious food and drinks in the company of family and friends. A city with style. You can practically taste the dolce vita. Wander down famous streets, cobbled alleyways and beautiful piazze. Indulge yourself!. And enjoy an espresso while standing at a bar. My tip: visit the Trastevere district with its many restaurants, bars and boutiques. This thriving quarter is also a favourite with the locals.

Lazio, a little-discovered region

Would you rather stay in an agriturismo outside Rome? Then make the surrounding region,  called Lazio, your base. A beautiful, sparsely populated area, still undiscovered by mass tourism. Lazio is situated between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Apennines. It has beautiful undulating countryside and lots of sunshine. You will find vineyards, olive groves and orchards. And picturesque crater lakes with crystal clear water inviting the wanderer to relax and wind down, like Lago di Bracciano, Lago di Bolsena and Lago di Vico. The Tyrrhenian Sea is lined with beautiful beaches. And you will find hot springs around Tivoli and Viterbo. Tivoli is moreover renowned for its grand Roman villas.

Fun for the kids

Lazio has several fantastic water parks that easily keep young and old entertained for an entire day. Just outside Rome, in the little town of Valmontone, is Rainbow Magic. A magic attraction park suitable for children of all ages. Zoomarine, near Pomezia, should also be recommended. This park combines attractions with a zoo and swimming pool.  Want to revel in nature? Just south of Lazio is the Parco Nazionale del Circeo. You may spot deer and wild boar here, and visit the beach. A nice outing for the entire family! Just like the Grotte di Falvaterra, for that matter, which is situated more inland. The small volcanic island of Ponza is well worth a visit too.

Enjoy the regional food

Are you a foodie? Lazio’s cuisine is renowned for spaghetti alla carbonara, for instance, Suppli (fried rice-filled balls) and Saltimbocca (veal cutlets topped with prosciutto and sage). The region produces several good wines that are not widely known outside Italy. Fun to try out! If your agriturismo has a restaurant, it ‘s sure to serve delicious regional dishes.

A comfortable agriturismo close to Rome

Does your perfect holiday also include relaxation in the Italian countryside after an exciting day in Rome? Select one of my agriturismos near Rome. An agriturismo is a (working) farm that offers luxurious holiday accommodation. A B&B room, comfortable apartment with its own kitchen, or even a cottage. Most agriturismos produce wine or olive oil. And cheese, honey or jam. All our agriturismos in Lazio have a swimming pool. If you choose one with a restaurant, you can savour traditional dishes of the region made with fresh local ingredients,  just a few steps from your accommodation.

Cocktailbar Salotto 42, Rome

In the heart of Rome, in beautiful Piazza di Pietra, you'll find Salotto 42, one of the city's most beloved cocktail bars. This stylish hotspot has a relaxed atmosphere, with a vintage-chic interior and a terrace overlooking the impressive Temple of Adriano.

The cocktails here are top notch. Of course you can order a classic Spritz, but real connoisseurs go for a perfect Negroni Classico or be surprised by a creative signature cocktail. Around aperitivo time your drink is accompanied by delicious snacks. The bar is open all day, but at night it really comes alive. For locals, it is the place to end a busy day, and even as a tourist you will feel right at home here. A visit to Salotto 42 is an absolute must for those who want to experience the unique Roman flair!
