Wine Farm in Tuscany

Tuscany has many wine farms. Places of pilgrimage for wine lovers! Many of these farms also offer luxurious holiday accommodation. Below you will find a selection of my winemaking agriturismos. This list is just a sample. Every one of the agriturismos has been visited by me and carefully selected for quality, authenticity and charm.

What is an agriturismo?

An agriturismo is a (working) farm that also rents apartments or rooms to guests. These agriturismos often produce olive oil or wine. Some also make cheese, jam or honey. I have selected a few of the most beautiful wine farms in Tuscany. Wonderful places to stay and enjoy everything nature has to offer.

Wine tastings hosted by the proud owner

Holidaying at a wine farm is of course ideal for wine enthusiasts. You are staying in the midst of vineyards. You can participate in wine-tastings and indulge in wines produced by the agriturismo, accompanied by delicious tit-bits carefully selected to complement them. The proud owner is happy to tell you all about the grapes, soil, and production process. And about the wine region where you are staying. This all makes for an unforgettable experience. Interesting, delicious, and educational. There are also beautiful wine farms in Piedmont, Marche and Sicily.

Discover Pienza and Bar Il Casello

The charming town of Pienza, located in the heart of the Val d'Orcia, is a Tuscan gem that is on the UNESCO World Heritage List for good reason. The town has picturesque streets, cosy squares and panoramic views. A walk down the romantic Via del Bacio (the street of the kiss) is an absolute must. And then don't forget - while kissing - to take a photo under the famous street sign. For a nice cappuccino in the morning or a delicious aperitivo with a local wine in the late afternoon, I usually go to Bar Il Casello. This bar has a terrace with one of the most beautiful views of Pienza, over the undulating landscape of the Val d'Orcia and Monte Amiata in the distance. Especially at sunset, this is the place to be!

Barolo: a village and wine

In my opinion, the picturesque town of Barolo is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and the hometown of the world famous Barolo wines. Through most of the surrounding vineyards you are allowed to walk freely and several trails have been established. While walking through the beautiful countryside, La Cappella del Barolo is certainly going to catch your eye. In exchange for a bottle of Barolo per week - for the rest of their lives - so the story says, 2 artists created a colorful chapel. If you want to learn more about the history of wine, visit the WiMu (Wine Museum), located in the Barolo Castle.
