Small holiday farm in the Tuscan hills
The young owner has brought this small farm back to life with passion and energy, together with his British wife. He was destined for a career at the Bar, after studying Law, just like his father and brothers. He decided otherwise. The couple left Milan and London to renovate the small family farm in the Tuscan hills. In the years that followed, they added on the guest accommodation.
A passion for animals
Taking care of the animals on the farm is a daily activity. There are a couple of cows, sheep, goats, pigs, rabbits, geese and ducks. All of them free-range. Then there’s a pony, a donkey and a number of friendly dogs. The land is cultivated, and they have a large vegetable garden. There’s always something to do on the farm. I have a lot of respect for this young couple, because there are not that many people left who manage to keep a self-supporting farm in business.
Relaxing in the Tuscan countryside
The agriturismo has a modest pool with a beautiful view and a row of sunbeds. You can read a book or enjoy the view of the hills from several seating areas in the garden. Children get a warm welcome here! They are free to play with the farm animals, pet them and help feed them. They can take a ride on the donkey. If they are up for it, they can gather eggs, pick fruit, and lend a hand in the vegetable garden. But the place is also ideal for doing nothing. For letting go of the daily routine, and tuning into carefree enjoyment.
It only takes 30 minutes to reach the coast. You might want to visit the long sandy beaches near Cecina, or one of the beautiful bays along the road to Calafuria. Pisa (and the airport) is a 45-minute drive. Lucca and Volterra are about an hour away.
4 Suites and 1 room
The agriturismo has 4 spacious suites of about 55 to 70m2 each. Two suites – both situated on the ground floor – have a living room with a sofa-bed downstairs, and a double bed on an open landing. The sofa beds are big enough for max. 2 children each. The other two suites have a living room with 2 single folding beds and a bedroom with a double bed. The suites do not have a kitchen, but they have a mini fridge, a water kettle with a selection of teas, a hair-dryer, and air-conditioning or heating, the latter two at an additional cost. And on the first floor there is a 2-person room with a beautiful view.
Finally, every suite as well as the room have their own outdoor terrace or balcony.
In short
This is the perfect agriturismo for a relaxing holiday. Children will not easily feel bored with so much to do and all the animals on the farm to occupy them. And it’s a great home-base from which to visit the sandy beaches and bays of the Tuscan coast.
