Quiet olive agriturismo 20 minutes from the coast of Tuscany
In the South of Tuscany, in the Maremma region, surrounded by wheat fields, sunflowers and olive groves I found this charming and peaceful agriturismo. They make their own delicious olive oil. I visited the agriturismo on a beautiful day in the spring and they were just finishing off the renovation of three new apartments. Proudly, the owner showed me around.
The agriturismo has a beautiful spacious, sunny garden with panoramic views over the Tuscan hills. There is a pool where each apartment has two sunbeds and an umbrella. There is a barbecue and a washing machine for communal use. For the little ones there is a nice playground in the garden and of course wifi is available in the public areas. The agriturismo also has a small equestrian centre with eight horses. It's possible to get lessons (also fun for the kids!) and go for horseback excursions in the area under the supervision of a guide.
At my favourite beach town in Tuscany, Castiglione della Pescaia, you have beautiful sandy beaches within 20 minutes’ drive from the agriturismo. The bustling and busier Follonica is a half hour drive. Both the medieval hamlet of Massa Marittima and the Etruscan excavations at Roselle are certainly worth a visit. The thermal baths at Saturnia are within an hour's drive from the property. Siena, Volterra and San Gimignano are approximately one and a half hours away.
The apartments
The agriturismo has in total 9 apartments, spread over two farmhouses. The large farmhouse has six apartments (apartment A to F), three apartments with one bedroom and three apartments with two bedrooms. In addition the agriturismo has recently renovated three new apartments in a second farmhouse (apartments G, H and I): Here there are two apartments with two bedrooms and one with three bedrooms. Of course, outside, all apartments have a private terrace with table, chairs and parasol. The interior of the apartments is typically Tuscan, with warm colours and natural materials. The new apartments have more modern furnishings.
