Welcoming agriturismo with restaurant, close to the sea
I’d had my eye on this agriturismo for a while, and when I was finally in the neighbourhood, I got the chance to visit. It was everything I’d hoped it would be, and I received an enthusiastic Sicilian welcome. This restored farmhouse is a charming hideaway, perfect for those seeking peace and a taste of warm Sicilian hospitality. Part of one of Sicily's most important organic farms, it produces wine, olive oil, almonds, and durum wheat. Surrounded by olive groves and fruit trees, it’s set in the countryside yet still near the sea. Just 10 kilometers away, you’ll find the agriturismo’s beach club, equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, and a beach bar with a lively yet relaxed vibe. Here you can enjoy water activities, evening events, and delicious food. It’s the ideal blend for those wanting both countryside tranquility and seaside.
Restaurante with a veranda
The restaurant, overlooking vineyards and the sea, is a perfect place to start your day with breakfast or end it with dinner. Surrounded by citrus trees, pomegranates, and other fruit trees, you’ll be able to taste delicious dishes that highlight Sicily’s authentic flavors with a creative twist. The farm also produces its own excellent wines, which are paired with the dishes here. All ingredients are carefully sourced, either from the farm or from local small-scale producers, farmers, and artisans, ensuring top quality.
Swimming pool, cooking class and bikes
There’s a pool near the main building, with loungers, umbrellas, and small tables – a peaceful, scenic spot where the only sounds are those of the Sicilian countryside. Nearby is a scenic bike path on a repurposed old railway line. For those who wish to explore the area by bike or on foot, there are custom maps with unique routes, each with different difficulty levels, durations, and distances through the countryside. You can also take part in various activities designed for guests of all ages, from cooking classes to wine tastings and food tours. Plenty of ways to keep busy! The reception can give you all the details and prices.
The rooms
The agriturismo has ten rooms decorated in a modern, elegant style. Some can accommodate extra beds, and several have their own terrace (with some offering sea views). The rooms are equipped with WiFi, air conditioning, hairdryers, minibars, and satellite TV.
Close to the beach and Agrigento
Just a 12-minute drive through the fields brings you to a long, beautiful white-sand beach. There are some beachside restaurants, but the area is spacious enough to find a quiet spot. Four kilometers from the agriturismo is a typical southern village with shops and restaurants. The village bakery still makes bread in a wood-fired oven, and their fig biscuits are delicious—I tried them myself! Just over an hour away is the famous Valle dei Templi in Agrigento with its impressive Greek temples, as well as the Scala dei Turchi. Trapani and Palermo are a bit over an hour away too. But I’m sure you’ll want to stay close to the agriturismo; it’s so relaxing here, perfect for reading or dining in a cozy, family-like setting! Plus, of course, you’ll have that wonderful beach nearby!
